Honor Guard Receives Last Remains

On August 10, 2008, an honor guard received the last remains to be brought down from the site of a helicopter crash that killed nine men and injured four. Of the nine killed, seven were Oregon firefighters, one was an Oregon pilot and one was a U.S. Forest Service employee in California. Firefighters from agencies around the region formed the honor guard, while a California Highway Patrol bagpiper accompanied them at the helibase in Weaverville, Calif.
